Here is an interesting poll (aren't they all).
I just realized that many of us have sent Garmins in for repair.
Just exactly how many of us have done that?
And what parts have we gotten repaired?
I've been doing well with the 60CS for now. I'm guessing it will need an on button soon.
My Legend was not so lucky. It blew up and needed medical attention within the Warrantee time.
I probably use them way over the expected average use. _________________

My Garmin V had a fatal error. E-mailed Garmin and got an authorization for return and repair. Thay also told me that eventhough I have had this until for over a year they would repair it under warrantee. Well on Monday I go the unit back......not my unit but a BRAND NEW UNIT!!!! Apparently my "old" unit was beyond repair.
I didn't have to pay for anything except shipping to Garmin. WoW 2 whole bucks!!
I have had similair experiences with Garmin on their map source prodcuts too.....but that's another story for another time...unless y'all wanna sit around the campfire at the beach whilst I tell it!

I've been through three Garmins and all have been faithful--no repairs needed.
I once thought my 60CS needed to go in for service when it started shutting off when bumped or shaken, but it turned out to be the cheap-o batteries I was using at the time. _________________ Meh. |

I need a choice for "Twice, but I fixed it myself"....
(Okay, really it only had a problem once--the second thing I had to 'fix' was the way I put it back together the first time....)

| Hey Elin - Sounds like this is one for the Geocaching Museum... you could probably sell it for more than you bought it! |

Like Team Perks, my 60CS blanked out only 2 weeks after I got it -- and new batteries didn't help. Called Garmin about service and they said a number of units had mfgr'g defects. I sent it in for repair and they replaced the entire case -- it has been working for over a year with no problem.
Until NOW!! Last two weeks, the same thing has started to happen! Looks like I might need to send it in -- again! Dang... |

Garmin GPS units need repairing!!!!! I for one am shocked. I have not once sent a garmin product in for repair. :eyecrazy: :puppy:
Oh wait, I dont own a garmin.
I feel so left out. I should go out a buy a garmin so it could break down and I could have it fixed for free. (you got to love that concept!!!!!)
I guess I should just throw my Magellan Sportrak away because I haven't had a chance to send it in for repairs, The stupid thing still works!!!!!! I hate when that happens. :rambo: :rambo: :rambo: :rambo: :rambo: :rambo: _________________ Member #25 |

Sorry Moag Ohana but I am about to kill my Sportstrak Pro. I have had to send it to Magellan when at a cache it reset and I lost all my waypoints and basemap. Since it has come back I will be out caching and it will lock up or just for no reason when I turn it on it will say no objects found and all my waypoints are gone. No fun have to enter them all again. Terra Girl keeps telling me to get a Garmin. She has had not problems with the Map 60. From all the stories I have heard about there service is that is is fast and very good.
I am a die hard Magellan fan but I think I will be buying a Garmin. Also unrelated but I have seen a lot of TV shows that us GPSr's and they all use Garmin. Hummmm I wonder why.
Garmin, Magellan all good. Just as long as it gets you to the cache.

Mike even if you defect to the other side I wont hold it against you. Opinions are like *ssholes, we all have one. And your'e right when you said "as long as it gets you there". And that is what it's all about!!! My neighbor's son bought a 74 AMC Gremlin 15 years ago and it is still running well for him. I guess we all get lucky on something somtime!!! Don't you just love KARMA!!! :eyecrazy: :eyecrazy: :eyecrazy: :eyecrazy: :eyecrazy: _________________ Member #25 |
