I used to have a Garmin GPS III+ (until I left it at a cache ) and now I have a Garmin GPS V. Neither ever needed repairing. Garmins Rule! _________________

Yeah, like Dave_W6DPS, I need a category of "fixed it myself" = TWICE!

Just got my 60 cs back, took 10 days round trip. The screen went blank on two occasssions and the compass was always locking up.
The report said "confirmed power problem-resoldered the battery contacts. Reloaded the software."
So far so good... _________________ Friends don't let friends hide micros in the woods.

Granted this is not a tell all poll, but a 65% satifaction rating?!?!?
Hey all you garmin owners, I have a couple of used cars for sale and I will guarantee the will work at least 65% of the time!!!
I am not saying they are bad units, but would you buy any product from a company that boasts about how good their repair program is instead of how reliable they are????? For some the GPS is the only exception.
I think Abraham Lincoln had garmin in mind when he made one of his famous catch phrases "You can fool some of the people some of the time. and those people will still beleive it even when presented with facts to the contrary" ............or something like that. _________________ Member #25

Somehow I knew we would hear from Moag on this thread (not that I totally disagree with him....) _________________ Engineeers design to nanometer tolerance, measure with a micrometer,

Magellans are better? :eyecrazy: OK, then......... maybe I need a different poll .. One that asks which units are better for finding caches... hmm....
...by the way... I just got another dash bracket, cause' I broke another one. They are just not made to use multiple times. _________________

| Got me a Garmin Quest and noticed that the battery wasn't recharging. Sent it back and they fixed it. |

Garmin has lots of practice in the repair business, they better be good at it!

Slight flaw in your statistics. 65% have not had problems... but that doesn't mean the remaining aren't satisfied with Garmin, nor does it mean that all those 65% are satisfied. Functionality poll is different than a satisfaction poll.
Though, I don't expect a Magellan to do well with numbers... so... an understandable mistake. _________________ -J()by

| I have a garmin Etrex Vista. I bought it used and really cheap because a couple of the buttons were torn up or torn off. I fixed one on my own with some glue. I used a pencil eraser to replace the missing button. I like to think of it as my own personalized and customized R2 unit. It also needs repairs for the screen, but I haven't sent it in. I don't know exactly how to vote on that one. |

Touche'
Like my neighbor always tells me about the key to a happy marriage
"Do you want to right OR Do you want to be happy"
Maybe I should apply that line of thinking when it comes to GPS units??? :puppy: _________________ Member #25 |
